Güral XS Series Medium Voltage Detectors Type XS-1036 are used for checking of voltage presence on lines, cables and device terminals between the voltage ranges 10-36kV.
Voltage detectors according to IEC/EN 61243-1 are designed to verify safe isolation from supply voltages at electrical work locations.
Safe isolation from supply voltages must be verified on all poles and as close to the work location as possible. This verification may only be performed by a qualified electrician or an electrotechnically instructed person.
Voltage detectors have to be tested for their correct operation, immediately before and after use. Verifying safe isolation from power supply with a voltage detector has to be considered as live working.
Voltage detectors may only be used for the rated voltage ranges as indicated on the rating plate. The operator may be at risk if the voltage detector is used at higher or lower voltages than indicated on the rating plate. Type XS-1036 voltage detector can be used for indoor and outdoor installations except in wet weather.

Design of Voltage Detector

XS-1036 Voltage Detectors are designed to make contact with the part of the electrical installation to be tested. The basic design of voltage detectors consists of a handle, insulating part, indicator and head with its contact electrode.
The insulating part is the section of the operating rod between the handguard and red ring.

Checking of Magneto Tester

For checking performance of magneto, test probe A is approached to test probe B approximately 0.5mm. The pushbutton is pushed down and flashover between two probes is observed. If flashover occurs, the magneto is trustworthy, otherwise not.

Checking of Voltage Detector

Prior to operation, performance of the neon lamp built in voltage detector is checked. For this purpose, Probe A of Magneto Tester is inserted to the special socket on the head of voltage detector. Probe B of  Magneto Tester is contacted by two sided pole of voltage detector and push button is pressed. If the light is  “on”, the voltage detector is operational and ready to use; otherwise checking must be repeated.
