General


    MV Double Break Disconnector is occasionally used disconnector type in some MV systems.

   Güral MV DBD Series Double Break Disconnectors offer robust and reliable solutions for medium – voltage systems. With variations designed to serve for a wide range of system voltages, Güral MV DBD Series Double Break Disconnectors currently operate worldwide at system voltages from 12kV to 52kV.

   The flexibility of the design of Güral MV DBD Series Double Break Disconnectors allows almost any custom solutions requested by the client, including earthing capabilities of load, supply or both terminals, insulation levels, driving variations and construction assembly types.

                              Güral MV Double Break Disconnectors can be fitted in parallel, in line or even shifted crosswise layouts.

Base


    MV Double break disconnector consists of one or three poles. Each pole consists of a base, two fixed and one rotating support insulators and a main blade that moves in a horizontal plane.

   The base is made of one NPU profiles in which the bearing housing and the rotating part are installed. The bearing housing is supported by two ball bearings for high mechanical loads. The bearing housing is sealed and filled up with special lubricant, to ensure a long and maintenance-free lifetime. All steel parts of the disconnector are hot-dip galvanized.

Insulators


   The disconnectors can be equipped with insulators in accordance with IEC, ANSI or DIN specifications.
   

Current Carrying Part


    The main blade consists of a double-knife construction having silver plated high conductivity copper.

   The fixed contacts for both incoming and outgoing terminals are made of high conductivity copper and silver plated. This contact construction is maintenance free.

   The contacts are self-cleaning, which makes the disconnector suitable for installation in areas with severe climatic conditions.

Earthing Switch


    Güral MV double break disconnectors may be equipped with earthing switches, which can be built-on to the right and/or left hand side.

   The earthing switch is made of a silver-plated copper contact. A mechanical interlocking is provided between Disconnector and Earthing switch.

Operating Mechanism


   The disconnectors and/or earthing switches can be single-pole or gang operated by means of a motor-operated drive mechanism or a manual-operated drive mechanism.

   In case only one drive mechanism is used for gang operation, the poles are interconnected by means of coupling rods.

               MD Series motor drives and HD series hand drives and MVHD series hand drives have aluminium housings and special design auxiliary switches. MD series motor drives also have manual operation by a crank.

Testing


    The double break disconnectors and earthing switches are designed and tested in accordance with latest IEC standards.
   
Installation

    The double break disconnectors and earthing switches are preassembled and adjusted in our workshops as complete as possible.

   The construction is designed so that all disconnectors can be installed at site very easily, without the need of any special tools. Güral provides installation instructions and assembly drawings.

Maintenance


    The disconnectors and earthing switches supplied by Güral are designed so as to ensure that they are maintenance free.

   However, to guarantee a long and trouble-free service period, we advise that a visual inspection of the contacts and bearing points be carried out at regular intervals.
