General
Güral introduces air insulated SFC/ SFC Series Indoor Switch Disconnector-Fuse Combinations of normal and with earthing blade types: a solid and compact solution for medium voltage systems. The design combines leading compactness of its class with maximum electrical and mechanical endurances as described in the relevant standards, allowing the latest dimensions needed for the metal clad / metal enclosed switchgear.
For many years Güral indoor switch disconnector-fuse combinations have guaranteed an excellent position in switchgear engineering. These switch disconnector-fuse combinations master the daily loads exerted under normal switching duty - for interrupting ring feeders, disconnecting network transformers and such - with very high operating frequencies and a minimum amount of maintenance. These switch disconnector-fuse combinations are distinguished by simple design, absolute reliability in operation and easy actuation.
The indoor switch disconnector-fuse combinations are fitted with an energy storage mechanism for quick-make and quick-break operation.

IMPORTANT NOTE!
SFC/ SFCE Series Switch Disconnector – Fuse Combinations at rated currents 2-63 A, as listed above, are tested to be used with only Güral MGM current-limiting type fuses, or equivalent fuses that are approved by Güral Elektrik to have the same characteristics with Güral MGM Fuses. The responsibility of use of other fuses with switch disconnector – fuse combination belongs to the user. |
Arc Extinguishing Chamber
The arc extinguishing chamber of SFC & SFCE Series Switch Disconnectors is optimized MV solutions not only for reliable load breaking operations, but also for making under heavy fault conditions and short circuit withstanding issues.
- The chamber uses a self-puffer system enabling long range variable and load sensitive automatic cooling capacity arrangement, making possible to maintain the correct breaking performance for all load conditions: varying between the low pure capacitive / inductive charging currents at very low cos? values to extreme loads up to 39.3 MVA.
- The arc extinguishing chamber is composed of non-flammable long endurance materials to maximize the in-cell security.
Making & Withstand Capacity
- Güral SFC&SFCE Series Switch Disconnectors-Fuse Combinations are Class E3 devices (5 closing at Ima) and are tested and proved to close safely on short circuits having the most severe peak currents as specified in the relevant standards.
- Güral Switch Disconnector – Fuse Combinations are Class E3 devices, and are capable to close at short circuit conditions of up to 52kApeak, with Güral MGM 36kV 25kA fuses combination of any rated current as specified in the reference list of fuses.
- Closing safely under any type of normal load conditions are also tested and proved, as Class E3 devices, both series of SFC and SFCE are tested to close to 100% mainly active load for 100 times, and all other required test of many closings under various voltage levels and load conditions.

Breaking Capacity |
- For convenient and reliable breaking at site, the auto-adjusting cooling range is essential for all types of circuit breakers and switch disconnector-fuse combinations. Güral SFC & SFCE Series Switch Disconnectors-Fuse Combinations equipped with the highly optimized breaking chamber having the requirements above, assures the safe operation of breaking under any load condition in the range specified below:

Main Switch Operation
The operation principle for main switch operation systems of SFC and SFCE Series are same; the energy needed for the closing and opening operations are given to system during the closing operation; after closing of the main blades, the energy needed for manual or automatic opening operation is held stored on the mechanism. |
The Driving Shaft (shown in red aside) needs a rotation angle of 90° for the full operation. |
| |
Operation Steps on Intended Operations
Operation steps on intended operation cases are shown in the figure below; simply the closing command will operate the main blades and close the circuit, and the opening command will make the switch break the circuit. This operation figure is valid for all SFC/ SFCE Series switch disconnector – fuse combinations, whether operated manually or by motor drives.

Operation Steps on Fuse Operated Operations
Only for the SFC/ SFCE Series switch disconnector – fuse combinations, the main switch may operate automatically - without any command of the operator; this is the case when an overload condition depending of the fuses’ rated current or a short circuit fault occurs in the system. Under the mentioned conditions, one or more fuses’ strikers will cause the main switch to open/break the circuit, following the fuse break out. This operation is carried out by the Automatic Fuse Release System, integrated on the switch disconnector – fuse combination. |
When the Automatic Fuse Release System causes the main switch to open, the drive shaft is still in closed position. After any fuse release operation, the fuse / fuses that broke the circuit are safely removed , the new fuse / fuses are assembled. Only after that, the main shaft should be commanded to open, so that the switch disconnector – fuse combination is ready to operate.
Earthing Blade Operation
Types SFC/ SFCE switch disconnector – fuse combination are equipped with earthing blades integrated within the product, which can be operated both manually or by motor drives. The operation principle for earthing blades for all types are similar: The energy needed for the closing or fast closing (if available) operation of the earthing switch is stored during the opening operation, and this energy is released when the operator commands the earthing switch to close.
The Earthing Blade Driving Mechanism (shown in red aside) needs a rotation angle of 90° for the full operation. as explained in the previous section: Assembly Instruction |
The figure on the left summarizes the operating steps of the earthing switches, whether the earthing switch is normal or fast closing type, there will be no operating before the operator gives command. |
Mechanical interlock
The operation safety of the earthing switch is obtained by the mechanical interlock between the earthing switch and the main switch, which prevents the accidental operations and short circuits, by making the main switch impossible to close while the earthing switch is also closed. Mechanical Interlocking Mechanism is higlighted with red on the figure aside. |
Assembly & Comissioning
- SFC & SFCE Switch Disconnector-Fuse Combinations are designed to minimize the assembly and comissioning procedure. The leading compactness and integration allows the customers to commission the products with minimum possible assembly steps and adjustments.
- SFC & SFCE Switch Disconnector-Fuse Combinations can be operated both with various types of hand and motor drives, the drive – switch connections allow the easy connection of main switch and earthing switch (if available) to the drive shaft.
- Each unit of SFC & SFCE Switch Disconnector-Fuse Combinations arrives with detailed guides, explaining every step of assembly and commissioning procedures throughly.
Maintenance
- SFC & SFCE Switch Disconnector-Fuse Combinations require minimum inspection and maintenance actions; most of the sub-assemblies are maintenance free, and it is sufficient to make some essential inspections and apply maintenance actions twice a year.
- In case of need, spare parts are easy to be obtained, and the material needed for maintenance is widely available.
- The inspections and maintenance actions needed to be carried out on the units are explained in detail within the product guides.
